Daniel E. Rice of Speedwell, Tennessee passed away on December 28, 2022, at the age of 85. Born October 19, 1937, in Backus, Tennessee, the son of Roy and Bessie (Woodward) Rice. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
Dan married Barbara Younglove-Westover on June 30, 1990, at the 5th Annual Fiesta of the 50’s at the Calhoun County Fairgrounds in Marshall, Michigan. They celebrated 32 years of marriage in June 2022. Dan retired from Ford Motor in 1990. Dan and his family moved to Michigan in 1955, and settled in Monroe, Michigan.
Dan married Jane Lockard in 1960.They had two sons, Daniel Kirk and Christopher Dale.
Dan was a member of UAW, a member of the Peace River Region Antique Automobile Club of America in Punta Gorda, Florida, and a Deacon at Union
Street Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe. Dan and Barb lived in Punta Gorda for 19 years. Dan wanted to go home to Tennessee and moved to Speedwell in October 2015.
Dan enjoyed fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, camping and working on antique cars. He, at one time, had many antique cars.
Dan is survived by his wife, Barbara Younglove-Westover Rice, Sons Daniel Kirk (Irene) Rice, Christopher Dale (Tammy) Rice, stepdaughters Anne (John) Barkenquast, Amy (Tony) Gabriel, brother Lynn Rice, sister Janice Weiman, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Bessie Rice, and his brother Kermit Rice.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 2, 2023, from 11AM until 1PM with funeral services to follow at 1PM in the Claiborne Overholt Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Branscomb will be officiating.
Graveside services will be Monday, January 2, 2023, in the Cave Springs Cemetery following the funeral services with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to St. Jude‘s Childrens Home.
