Mr. George Herbert Allison
October 20, 1932 - February 5, 2026
Mr. George Herbert Allison of Tazewell was born October 20, 1932, and was called home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2026. George was born in Anderson County, Tennessee and at the time of his death he resided in
Tazewell, Tennessee. George was a devout Christian and a faithful servant who loved God. He was a faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church until his illness.
George graduated from high school and later enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country. George spent the majority of his time in Germany, during the Korean War, serving as a Quartermaster Officer. When he returned home from the Army, he gained employment at Bell – South Telephone Company in Knoxville, Tennessee. At this time, George met the love of his life, Anna Nora Selvidge, and married her on June 18, 1956. George and Anna had two children, Janet Carol Allison and Roger Clark Allison. George was a devoted husband and father with a gentle soul, except when he killed Janet's chickens because their feathers were backward.
George moved his family to Middlesboro, Kentucky where he continued his employment with South Central Bell Telephone Company as a cable repair technician until his retirement. George was well respected as a union leader, as well as being known as a prankster by his fellow workers. After retiring, George spent his leisure time gardening and puttering around the yard. George's favorite way to spend time was visiting his buddies at Hardees, Casey's Garage, and O.T,'s Body shop where he loved telling tall tales and sharing laughs.
George is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Nora Selvidge Allison and son Roger Clark Allison. George is also preceded in death by his parents Josie Lee and George Franklin Allison and all his brothers and sister: Angelo and wife Ada Allison, W.S. and wife Tilda Allison, Walter Allison, E.O. and wife Juanita Allison, Malcolm and wife Effie Allison, Ray and wife June Allison, and Lillie Anne Allison Bradshaw and husband Bus Bradshaw.
George is survived by his daughter Janet Carol Allison Thomas and husband Marvin Thomas along with Janet's faithful cats Malichia, Boone, and Cooper.
George was an adoring husband, caring father, a loyal friend, an honorable Korean War United States Army Veteran and a faithful Child of God.
Strong roots grow strong trees, and you are my roots, Daddy. You didn't tell me how to live; you lived and let me watch you do it by example. I will love you forever, Daddy …. Love, Peanut....

George Herbert Allison will be laid to rest next to his loving wife in the Lakeview Cemetery.
Graveside services will be Friday February 13, 2026 at 11:00am with Military Honors and the Rev. Mark Allison officiating at Lakeview Cemetery, 8101 City Park Dr. Lenoir City, Tennessee 37772.
