James Catron Obituary
November 23, 1944 - February 27, 2026
Mr. James Catron, Jr. age 81 of Tazewell passed away peacefully February 27, 2026, with his loved ones by his side. James was born November 23, 1944, to the late Dottie and James Catron. James proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years with the First Calvary E7 Sergeant. James also served with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. He found joy in the simple blessings of life, especially the beautiful views from his home. James loved time spent fishing and canning. He truly enjoyed each day as it came. He will be remembered as a man who appreciated life's quiet moments and the peace of the outdoors.
James is preceded in death by his parents James Catron, Sr. and Dottie Catron, brothers and sisters: Jackie, Lee, Marylou, Phyllis, Stella and Bill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Judy D. Catron, his children, Jimmy Catron, Steven Catron and wife Nicole, Jason Catron, Judy Grooms, Richard Fields, Jr., Samantha Catron, Tanya Butcher and husband David. James also leaves behind his grandchildren: Ashlie Butcher, Michelle Butcher and husband Dewayne, Dedra Snyder and husband Adam, Danna McMahan and husband Chandler, Tlalli, Orrin, Emme and Maisie. Great grandchildren Brentley, Brycen, Brayden, Bryker Brooklyn, Wyatt, Darren, Mylah, Makyah, Maverick and Raylen. His brothers and sisters: Bruce, Curtis, Billy, Marti, Thelma, Lousie, BettyJoe, and Reba.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing he is at peace. His love for the simple things in life reminds us to slow down, take in the view and treasure the moments we are given. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family will receive friends Wednesday March 4, 2026, at 5PM with military honors to follow at 6PM in the Claiborne ~ Overholt Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral services to follow the military honors.
