Daniel John Russo, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Dacula, GA on August 5th, 2025 after a long and courageous health battle. Preceding him in death was his father SGT. James Joseph Russo, sister-in-law Renee Pool Russo, and lifelong partner John Joseph Francis Dodd. Danny is survived by his loving family, his mother Mary Kazuko Russo, brother Albert James Russo (Renee Russo), sisters Elizabeth Howe (Jeffrey Howe) and Roslie Kennamer (Robert Kennamer), his beloved nieces and nephews, Parker Russo, Daniel Kennamer, Kelly Shannon (Joey) Andrew Kennamer (Patti), Allison Watanabe (Darin), Adam Howe (Ansley), Mackenzie Roell (Adam) and many other cherished family members and friends, who also loved him dearly.
Born in Japan on December 3rd, 1950, Danny attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Fort Smith, Arkansas. After the family returned from SGT. Russo's assignment in France, Danny attended Sacred Heart Elementary School in Augusta, Georgia. Danny was an honor student at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School for four years and graduated as the Valedictorian of the class of 1968. He then moved to Davenport, Iowa to attend Marycrest College. After graduating from the seminary, Danny joined the Navy in 1982 and was honorably discharged in 1986, attaining the rank of T3 and served two years with the Naval Reserve. Danny entered the world of banking and worked for the Rock Island Bank until retirement. His love of friends, music, reading and collecting filled those years in Davenport.
Four years after being diagnosed with bone cancer, Danny moved to Dacula, Georgia spending the next eight years with his mother, brother, two sisters and his extended family. Danny's faith was strong and deeply personal and he committed his life to live in the grace and love of Jesus. Always a gentlemen, Danny touched everyone with respect and caring. He was an angel on earth and will be missed immensely.
