Daniel Saldano Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson Funeral Home - Elkin on Feb. 24, 2025.
Daniel Patrick Saldano passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Pineville Charlotte surrounded by his wife and children on the 22nd of February, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his Grandmother who raised him, Frances Rodriguez, and in-laws that he considered his parents for the last 35 years Dr. John and Carol Abernathy.
He is survived by his wife of the home Zishia Saldano (Jonesville), his son Daron Gregston, wife Laura (Arizona), daughter Rebekah Gregston (Jonesville), son Joshua Gregston, wife Judy (Elkin), son Asaiah Rahmani, wife Elyse (Virginia), daughter Danielle Baldwin, husband Alex (Yadkinville), daughter Clarissa Howard, husband Tyler (Union Grove), and son Israel Murphy, wife Maribel (Virginia). He is also survived by his grandchildren Brittany, Laken, Amayah, Daron, Rachel, Ashaia, Dani, Joshalynn, Leia, Aurora, Sebestian, Luke, Bella, Jacob, Baer, Tennessee, Sophia, Layla, Israel, and Mathias. He is also survived by his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, whom he loved dearly, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Danny was born in Arizona. Shortly after he moved to California where he met the love of his life, Zishia, and they moved to North Carolina in 1990. He worked in factories and a Pepsi plant before finding his calling in law enforcement, mental health and the love of baking french pastries. Everyone knew Danny, or "Officer Dan". He was loving and compassionate. He came from nothing and held a special place in his heart for kids in the community who he saw himself in. His door was always open. If you were hungry, you went to the Saldanos. If you needed a place to sleep, you went to the Saldanos. Danny was kind and forgiving, but was not above giving you a good talking too, before telling you "everyone makes mistakes, learn from them." A true man of God who stood by faith, and would give his testimony to you. Danny was a walking testimony. And you saw that in the way he loved and helped people.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday March 1st at 2PM at 2100 NC-67, Jonesville, NC 28642 at The Barn at Premier Farm for a flowing Celebration of Life. Family will begin ceremony at 3PM. A private funeral service will be held at a later date for his immediate family.
Johnson Funeral Home of Elkin is respectfully serving the Saldano family. Online condolences may be made at www.johnson-funeral.com.
