Daniel "Danny" Earl Sandberg, of Canby, OR passed away on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 surrounded by family at his side. Danny was a beloved husband, dad, papa, and friend to many in Canby and surrounding communities.
Danny was born in Oregon City, OR and raised on his family's farm in Canby, OR. He attended Knight Elementary School in Canby and graduated from Canby High School class of 1965. He served in Vietnam in the U.S. Marines. Upon returning home from his service in Vietnam, he met the love of his life Rory Sandberg (Boyd) and they married in 1971. During their early years, aside from farming, he was a volunteer firefighter at Beavercreek Fire Station. They lived a wonderful life together on properties surrounding the Canby, OR area and raised two daughters.
Danny worked as a materials foreman at Freightliner and was fortunate to have an opportunity to retire early at the age of 55. This allowed him more time to pursue activities that brought him so much joy. He enjoyed his hot rods and loved going to cruise ins as part of the Canby Cruisers. He also would be seen taking his grandkids in his hot rods in the General Canby Day parade. He also did a stint as the Clackamas County brand inspector for several years.
Danny showed cows at the Clackamas County Fair throughout his childhood and was a proud supporter of the fair, Clackamas County 4-h, and Future Farmers of America (FFA). Serving on the Clackamas County fair board for numerous years brought him much joy. He instilled a love for raising livestock in both of his daughters along with all his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, his daughters Tia (Lane) and Lana (Bryan), and his four grandchildren: Lauren, Wade, Rhett, and Reece.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation be made to the Clackamas County Fair Improvement Foundation to help with construction of the new building. You may call them at their office at 503-266-1136 for details.
A memorial service is planned on April 23 at 2:00 PM in the 4H hall at the Clackamas County Event Center.
