Daniel S. Sanger

BOSCOBEL - Daniel Scott Sanger passed away on Monday, October 2,2023. Dan was a kind, caring man who would provide help to anyone who asked and sometimes to those who didn’t! Dan was born on April 14, 1954, the son of Maynard and Ada (Griswold) Sanger. He was big brother to Richard “Ted” and Lori.  He graduated from Lancaster High School class of 1972.  Dan held several jobs: Bausch's Car Wash, Roger's Bar, and Fireball Lanes until he was hired by WE Energies. Dan and Nancy met in 1987 at Fireball Lanes.  While dating, they both became certified EMTs and served the Lancaster area as volunteers on the Lancaster Rescue Squad.  In August of 1992 while visiting friends in Arizona, they drove to Las Vegas and were married. In 1995, they were blessed with their son Lucas. The family moved to Boscobel in the Spring of 2000. Due to his health issues, Dan had to retire from WE Energies. Despite this, he kept busy being Mr. Fix-it for family and friends, and he volunteered many hours at the Paul Brandt School Forest. 

Dan and Nancy enjoyed the years they spent camping in Bagley Wisconsin.  They also enjoyed winters South in their RV.  Dan’s breathing continued to worsen, and he began to need assistance with many daily activities. Despite his significant poor breathing affecting everything he did or wanted to do, he never complained, and he never lost patience or showed anger.  Dan lived by the saying: “Every day is a good day, some are just better than others.”

Dan is survived by his wife Nancy (Carroll), son Lucas (Lauren), his brother Richard “Ted”, sister Lori (Larry) Jerrett, members of the Carroll family and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Maynard and Ada, Nancy’s parents: Roger and Mary Ann (Bublitz) Carroll, and a niece Sarah Pulvermacher.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, where friends may share a memory from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon at Martin Schwartz Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster. A private family burial will be held at a later date.  In lieu of plants and flowers, a Daniel S. Sanger memorial has been established.
