Jane Barbara (Caspers) Derleth passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, in Madison, WI, following a brief illness.
Jane was born on the family farm in Beetown Township on June 8, 1940, to Joseph and Thelma Caspers. Jane attended school in Bloomington until her junior year in high school and later graduated from Lancaster High School.
Jane received her nursing degree from St. Francis School of Nursing in La Crosse, WI. She returned to Lancaster and was united in marriage to Fred Derleth.
Jane started her nursing career in Milwaukee County. Then she began a 51-year career caring for residents of Grant County. Jane worked for 34 years in all departments of Lancaster Memorial Hospital (now Grant Regional Health Center) but loved the Obstetrics Department. She also worked for more than 17 years at the Grant County Health Department, traveling throughout the county caring for patients. She truly loved her nursing career and the people she helped.
Jane is survived by Fred, her husband of 63 years. Together they raised two children, Michael and Steven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family and friends may visit on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Instead of flowers, memorials may be given to the Grant County Food Pantry or St. Clement Catholic Church. Kramer-Grau Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care.
