Daniel J. Schatte, 52, of New Athens, IL, born November 22, 1971, in Belleville, IL passed away on Wednesday October 9, 2024. He was a machinist for 30 years at KTM in New Athens. Dan was an avid bowler who had several 300 games and also an 800 series. He loved his children and attended all of their sporting events. He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association and loved going camping with his family.
Dan was preceded in death by his mother – Barbara Jo Schatte, who passed away on May 4, 2020, and a father-in-law – Bill Jones, who passed away on September 28, 2021.
Surviving him are his loving wife – Stephanie R. (Jones) Schatte, whom he married on January 14, 2006 at Columbia, IL, two children – Brandon C. and Morgan R. Schatte, both of New Athens, IL, father – Dennis L. Schatte of New Athens, IL, father and mother-in-law – Gregg and Becky Blomenkamp of Freeburg, IL, another mother-in-law – Janet Jones of Smithton, IL, dear aunt and uncle – Dean and Marilyn Schatte of New Athens, IL and sister-in-law – Keri (Rudy) Diefenbach of Smithton, IL. He is also survived by two nieces – Jordyn and Breanna and by several cousins.
Memorials may be made to the family to help establish an education fund for his children.
Visitation: 4 – 8 p.m. on Sunday October 13, 2024, and 9 – 11 a.m. on Monday October 14, 2024, at St. John United Church of Christ in New Athens.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Monday October 14, 2024, at St. John United Church of Christ in New Athens with Rev. Dr. Robert Koch officiating.
Cremation will take place after the services. Private committal services at Oakridge Cemetery in New Athens will be observed at a later date.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.
