SIDNEY - Daniel Walter Schloss, 72, of Sidney, passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 4, 2025, at Wilson Health – Sidney.
Daniel was born on January 28, 1953, in Sidney, Ohio to the late Robert and Helen (Andrews) Schloss. On January 19, 1973, he married Rebecca "Becky" Schmiesing who preceded him in death on February 1, 2025.
Together, Daniel and Becky had 3 children: Robert (Jessica) Schloss of Troy, Sheila (Randy) Bensman of Sidney, and Scott (Amber) Schloss of Anna. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Alyssa (Colton) Duckro, Ryan Schloss, Reagan Schloss, McKinley Schloss, Kyle Bensman, Henry Bensman, and Oliver Bensman.
Daniel also leaves behind his sisters; Carol Schloss, and Sherri (Brent) Clay, as well as sister in-law's; Diane (Ralph) Nerderman, Betty (Carl) Hatfield, Terri (Don) Huelskamp, and Christine (Ted) Brandewie.
In addition to his parents, Dan was also preceded in death by one grandson; Ethan Bensman, one sister; Jeannie Olding, and one brother-in-law; Tony Schmiesing.
Dan graduated from Sidney High School in 1971 and then began a 25-year career at Peerless. Dan and Becky were both members of Holy Angels Catholic Church. He was also a lifelong member of the Eagles in Minster, and the Indian Lake Moose Lodge.
Being an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes, Dan enjoyed going to several games throughout the years, as well as watching his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events. Dan loved listening to George Strait, and had a laugh that could light up any room.
A visitation will be held for Daniel & Rebecca Schloss at Salm – McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home, on Wednesday – February 12, 2025, from 5-7PM, and on Thursday – February 13, 2025, from 9-10AM. A mass of a Christian burial will follow at Holy Angels Catholic Church at 10:30, with burial following at Shelby Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wilson Health Hospice in Daniel's honor. Salm – McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Schloss Family.
