Daniel Schriml Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell on Sep. 11, 2023.
Our beloved, Daniel Kelemen Schriml, 68, of Marengo, Ohio, passed away September 9th 2023. He was born September 26th, 1954 to Daniel Fitzgerald and Irene Kennedy (Schriml) in Dayton, Ohio. He was married to Ronda Schriml (Oatley) on February 6th 1981 in Columbus, Ohio.
He is survived by Ronda Carol Schriml (Oatley), Sons (spouse) - Joshua (Stephanie) Schriml, Zach Kelemen (Schriml), Sister (spouse) - Susan (Dick) Wical, Brothers - Mark Schriml, Jeff Perron, Grandchildren - Justin, Daniel, Zephira. Nieces/Nephews - Nicole, Alison, Rika, Kyle, Sheralyn, Serra, Lucas, Angelina. He was preceded in death by his Father - Daniel Fitzgerald, Mother - Irene Kennedy (Schriml), Sister - Victoria Schriml, Brother - Scott Schriml, Step-Father - Gary Schriml.
Dan was in the Fire Protection service trade for 43 years. He also co-owned and operated a landscape business for 21 years. Dan was employed by Empire Fire Protection (1980-1989), Brigade Fire Protection (1989-2023) and Creative Touch Landscape (2002-2023). Dan graduated from Trotwood - Madison High School in Dayton, Ohio in 1972.
Our father possessed so many great qualities and our family wanted to provide insight into the true man he became. There will be an everlasting impact and a huge void in our hearts for the unconditional love he showed us. He meant the world to the people he came in contact with, and it has led to a huge outpouring of support because of the impact he had on them.
For 68 years, he blessed and touched a lot of people in so many different ways. What made Dan so amazing was his overwhelming love for his family and friends, especially his grandkids. He was extremely hardworking, had strong ideals, morals, and principles. Dan was the most loyal man to others and would consistently put other people's needs over his own. Reliability was something he stood firm on - if you tell someone you are going to help, you see it through. If someone was in need, he would go to the greatest lengths to guide you and give the shirt off his back if needed. He was a man of pride and had a way with words and phrasing advice- you always knew that it came from a genuine place in his heart.
Dan was incredibly adaptable in any environment with many different people. He had a tremendous sense of humor and was incredibly quick-witted. He had a monumental smile, eyes drawn almost closed from laughing so hard - it was infectious to everyone around him.
Dan was dedicated to my mom and our family owned and operated business, Creative Touch Landscape. Just as my mom desired to make friends and customers over her 24+ year dedicated career, they both desired to make homes feel inviting and warm with vibrant colors and hardscapes. Dan also worked a lot behind the scenes and single handedly repaired almost every single piece of equipment from day one - even while he was working more than his main 40+ hours a week in Fire Protection. This is just another testament to his loyalty, tenacity, and commitment to my mom and our family, and operating a successful business - day in and day out. He was incredibly dedicated to his principles and honest good work, and showed to us that it would be rewarded in a multitude of ways.
His ultimate servitude in his 68 infectious years was always to his wife and his two sons. His grandkids meant the world to him, and he showed them such a pure love that always kept him on the go. He was always present and supportive during all the sports activities, encouraging them to leave everything on the field.
Dan was the most committed in all of his years to fulfilling his wedding vows to his wife - but most of all through their struggles, he was a loving, lay his life on the line for his wife, type of man. His beloved hobbies he shared with his two sons created unbreakable bonds between father and sons. Dan enjoyed and introduced sports to us at early ages. He had an immense passion for the outdoors and it led to teaching us how to hunt and fish, to be blessed to enjoy our time together, and to appreciate nature in all of its function and beauty.
Anyone that knew Dan, knew he had an incredibly competitive nature and loved taking on challenges. He played pee-wee sports in Dayton, Ohio, and continued to play sports all the way up to his early 40's. He loved to play baseball, softball, football, basketball, hockey, golf, and track & field. Most of all, dad was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed many trips to racetracks with his family.
Dad, you were such a solid rock for our family. Words cannot describe the void you left and the shoes we have to fill. We will forever cherish our memories, the love you gave, and the forever way that you shaped us as men. Love you, Dad.
