Daniel L. Scott, age 78, of Marion, IL passed away at 9:17 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at his home.

He was born on September 26, 1947 in East St. Louis, IL the son of Milton J. "Mickey" and Eudene (Durham) Scott.

He attended school in Dupo, IL and was a graduate of Dupo High School Class of 1965. He continued his education in Technical Training in St. Louis, MO.

He was united in marriage to Sheila A. Shumate on February 14, 1998 in Dupo, IL and together they have shared 28 years of marriage.

He worked as a mechanic until he retired at the age of 59. He then began working for Marion Pepsi for many years until in 2012 he began working for Marion Rural King and was their manager of the gun department. He loved working at Rural King and currently was still employed.

In his spare time, he enjoyed being in the outdoors hunting and fishing and working in his yard. He enjoyed helping others and for many years he and his wife working with Man-Tra-Con of Marion prepared free tax returns for those who qualified. They were recognized for their service to others by the Internal Revenue Service.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila A. Scott of Marion, IL; twin brother, Dennis Scott and his wife, Midge of Minot, ND; sister, Marsha Jackson and husband, Arthur "Peck" of Royalton, IL; brother, Larry Scott and wife, Sharon of Belleville, IL; two special nieces, Ranee Hall and Jami Pritchard both of Goreville, IL; great niece, Karlee Hall of Piggott, AR, many other nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.

In accordance with his wishes there will not be any public service held.

For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the family c/o "Sheila Scott."

Contributions envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.
