Daniel Shaffer Obituary

Daniel W. Shaffer, 87, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on December 8, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was a devoted husband and beloved parent and grandparent. He grew up and lived in Bethlehem, PA, a town he loved dearly and so never left. Daniel graduated from Liberty High School in 1954 and served as an Aerial Photographer in the United States Navy. He began his professional career at the Bethlehem Steel, and then worked for the City of Bethlehem for 37 years as a Bethlehem City Health Inspector. During his tenure as Bethlehem's Health Inspector, he became a well-known fixture of the community and a friend to many. He was a lifelong member of Edgeboro Moravian Church and deeply enjoyed the fellowship of its parishioners. Daniel enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and his favorite furry companions Uno and Teddy. Daniel will be dearly missed and will always be remembered by friends and family as a kind, loving, and gentle man of honor.

Daniel was predeceased by his parents Harry and Bertha Shaffer, and brothers Harry Shaffer Jr., Carl Ritter and Robert Beddoe. Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Joan Shaffer, Son and Daughter-in-Law Glenn and Judi Shaffer, devoted daughter Jeanine Schantz and grandchildren Christopher Edwards, Megan Edwards, Daniel Schantz and Jason Kilgore and family.
