Daniel Smead Obituary
He was born on October 10, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Charles James Smead and Lillian Helen Smead, who both preceded him in death. Dan received his early education in the West Milwaukee school system and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee with a degree in Business Administration. He accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age, a foundation of faith that guided him throughout his life.
In his leisure time, Daniel Smead found joy in a variety of activities that reflected his love for both people and the outdoors. He was an avid golfer in his earlier years until his health took a turn. Dan took great pleasure in friendly games of Sheepshead with close friends and family. A passionate gardener, Dan found peace and fulfillment in tending to his plants. He cherished spending time with loved ones, whether gathered around a card table or enjoying a quiet afternoon together.
A talented swimmer, Dan competed on his high school swim team and continued to swim whenever he had the opportunity. Daniel devoted most of his career to the purchasing industry. He also proudly served as president of the Institute for Supply Management, demonstrating his commitment to professional excellence. Dan enjoyed traveling and exploring new places. As a child Dan treasured the time during the summer that he spent in Dorchester, Wisconsin, working on his family's dairy farm.
Daniel Warren Smead is preceded in death by his brother Charles Smead.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Linda Smead, his daughters: Heather (Rob) Keeler, Holly (Brendan) Doud, Grandchildren: Libby and Grady Doud, his Stepdaughter Ashley (Marcel) Singleton and step grandson, Jersey Singleton, Mother-in-law, Maudine Evans, Sister-in-law, Michelle Smead, and a host of beautiful nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation to be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin, from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM. Funeral Service to begin at 12:00 PM. Entombment in Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
