Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home - KaufmanDaniel Parmer Smith II, 71, of Scurry, TX, went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2025. Daniel was born on May 16, 1954 to Robert and Elizabeth Smith in Gulfport, MS. He grew up in a military family, living in MS as a young child and living in Southern California for most of his youth. After graduating from high school, he drove semi trucks hauling US mail cross-country, spent two years serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and managed the parts department at an auto dealership. He volunteered as a police reserve officer prior to starting his career in law enforcement with the Lewiston, ID Police Department. He served as a training officer, a detective, and mostly loved working the streets, including community outreach, such as being a "Santa Cop." He received the Department's highest award for helping rescue a woman from a burning building before the firefighters arrived. He retired as a corporal after 22 years of service. On June 16, 1978 he married Mariceil Smith and they shared the first 47 years of their eternal love, together in this life. Daniel and Mariceil moved to Scurry, TX in 2013, where they began building their dream of a self-supporting family farm. He was a car enthusiast, a member of the BMW Car Club of America, and he worked on the pit crew of an entry-level NASCAR team and drove the semi that carried the car to the races. He enjoyed, camping, boating, collecting guns, and riding his John Deere. His favorite times were shared with his family. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother. His parents, Robert and Elizabeth, and grandchild Mason Rafoth preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memory are wife, Mariceil; children: Daniel P.
