Daniel Smith

Daniel James Smith, 67, of Eaton Rapids, MI, passed away on November 15, 2025.

Born on July 10, 1958, in Detroit, he was the son of George and Mary (Simmons) Smith. Dan grew up in Eaton Rapids and was a proud member of the Class of 1976.

Dan spent most of his career in hotel management, though he also worked in concrete construction and with Autoport Limited, parking newly manufactured General Motors vehicles. Outside of work, Dan had a love for magic and delighted in entertaining family and friends with his talent. He was also an avid geocacher, a hobby that took him all over Michigan in search of new adventures. Some of his happiest moments were spent on Fishers Lake in Three Rivers, enjoying time with loved ones.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kimberly Sue (Bateman) Smith; and his brother, Loren Smith.

He is survived by his children, Dan (Janelle Reed-Smith) Smith II and Christina Marie Smith; grandchildren, Breyden Bresky and Evelyn Sanchez; brothers, Mike (Julie) Smith and George (Maureen) Smith; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Following the service, Dan will be laid to rest beside his wife in Plains Cemetery, and the family will host a pizza gathering at the funeral home afterward.
