Daniel Duane Speagle, 70, of Owaneco, IL, passed away on January 5, 2026, at his residence. He was born on March 23, 1955, in Taylorville, to Donald and Dorothy (Garrett) Speagle. On June 7, 1975, he married Mary Buerk in Owaneco, and they spent many loving years together and were blessed with two children.

Throughout his life, Daniel worked for Internation Paper as an electrician, at ADM as a foreman, and was employed with Continental Grain as well as Speagle Phillips 66. He loved to listen to music and was an avid reader. Above all, he adored his family and cherished all time spent with his loved ones and friends.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Speagle of Owaneco, IL; daughter: Kimberly (Michael) Anderson of Owaneco, IL; son: Nathan Speagle (Alee Quick) of Carbondale, IL; grandchildren: Nicholas Anderson (Ellie Kuhnert); Mattie Anderson (Donnie Denning); as well as his brother: David (Michelle) Speagle of Taylorville, IL.

Daniel was reunited with his parents and two sisters, Debbie Speagle and Denise Longtin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Owaneco Village Hall.

Memorials in honor of Daniel may be made to either Green Earth or to Christian County Animal Control.
