Daniel Downie Stewart II, affectionately known as Danny, passed away on February 11, 2025, in Hermitage, Tennessee, at the age of 59. Born on June 26, 1965, in Dundee, Scotland, Danny was a beacon of dedication and love throughout his life.

For a decade, he devoted himself to his role as a hardworking general manager at Cracker Barrel, where his commitment and passion for service made a lasting impression on both colleagues and guests. Danny’s unwavering work ethic was mirrored in every aspect of his life, but it was his devotion to his family that truly defined him. He cherished every moment spent with his sons, Daniel and Nathan, creating treasured memories that will forever hold a special place in their hearts. Among these cherished memories is a rather comical adventure where his sons misled him with wrong directions during a trip to a waterpark in Spain, resulting in a delightful, albeit lengthy, detour that turned into an unforgettable day of bonding.

Danny's care extended beyond just fun days; he was truly present in the lives of his loved ones, visiting Nathan during a time of need in the hospital, a testament to the relentless support he offered as a father. He held family gatherings close to his heart, always bringing joy with tales of his culinary feats, notably when he proudly won the grand prize in a cooking competition for his exquisite veal dish. His talents in the kitchen, marked by friendly competition with his mother, were a source of pride and laughter within the family.

Known for his caring nature, Danny would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. His strength shone through in his determination and a hint of stubbornness, but these traits were lovingly embraced by all who knew him. His love for family transcended everything, and he always prioritized their happiness above all.

Danny is survived by his beloved sons, Daniel Stewart III and Nathan Stewart; his sister, Amanda Stewart; his parents, Mae and Daniel Stewart I; and his step-daughter, Tiona Torres. He is lovingly remembered by his family and friends, who will carry his legacy of hard work, warmth, and unwavering love in their hearts.

He joins his late wife, Kelly Stewart, and his cherished dog, Cassie Stewart, in eternal rest. The loss of Danny will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, as his spirit and kindness will continue to resonate in the lives he touched.

A visitation to celebrate Danny's life will be held on February 21, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM, ensuring that all who seek to pay their respects may gather in remembrance of this remarkable man.
