Daniel "Danny" Robert Stewart, 78, of Lehi, passed away December 6, 2025, at Aspen Ridge Residences and Assisted Living of Lehi.
Danny was born October 15, 1947, in Ontario, Canada, to Robert Burns Stewart and Margaret Henrietta Underhill Stewart. His family moved to California where he grew up in Riverside and graduated from Norte Vista High School. He also attended Brigham Young University.
On August 18, 1972, he married Mariana Wikitoria Kohu in the Salt Lake Temple. Danny and Mariana made their home in Riverside, California, where Danny worked as a correctional officer for California Rehabilitation Center; employed as a banker; and worked in the legal service industry. When Danny and Mariana retired, they moved to Idaho Falls. After Mariana passed away, Danny eventually moved to Utah.
Danny was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many church callings including seminary teacher for 10 years, high councilman, and bishop. But one of Danny’s favorite callings was choir director. He always carried a song in his heart. While on his mission to the Southwest Indian Mission, his Mission President, Dale Tingey, asked Danny to get a group together to sing at different church events. He enjoyed it so much that after his mission he enrolled in Brigham Young University and created a song and dance group, which he initially called “The Lamanite Generation”, and introduced it to the Program Director at BYU. This group went international and was renamed “Living Legends”.
Danny is survived by his sister, Judy (Michael) Hardy of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Christine (Steven) Blockburger of Sandy, UT; brother, Alex Stewart of St. George, UT; sister, Patricia (Perley) Riley of Hemet, CA; sister, Wendy McCabe of Riverside, CA; and sister, Mary (William) Buckley of Riverside, CA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mariana Wikitoria Stewart; father, Robert Burns Stewart; mother, Margaret Henrietta Stewart; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and William Delgado; brother-in-law Patrick McCabe; niece, Terri Riley Handy; and nephew, Jose Gomez.
The Stewart family appreciates the wonderful care Danny received at Aspen Ridge Residences where Danny made many friends.
There will be a graveside service on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
