Daniel Sugden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Ventura on Jan. 9, 2023.
Age 69 • Ventura, CA
Dan Sugden passed away on Christmas Eve 2022, in Ventura, CA, after a short illness. He transitioned to heaven comforted by his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters.
Dan was the first born of three to John Henri Sugden, II, and Constance Alice Sugden. Born July 8, 1953, in Sacramento, CA, he spent his formative years in Fremont and then Palmdale. He resided in Oakview and then Ventura for most of his life.
As a jack of all trades with a genuine desire to learn about, and from others, he had many careers ultimately leading to his career in mortgage banking.
Dan spent a lifetime dedicated to his passions under cars and on the water. He could fix practically anything. He rebuilt car engines, boats, and renovated properties. Dan was an avid sailor and power boater. He charted nautical navigation. He traversed the San Francisco Bay, the Channel Islands, Catalina, the Ventura to Santa Barbara Counties coastline, and many recreational lakes. Dan traveled all over Northern America, the Caribbean, and Europe. He loved storytelling, fish stories, and dad jokes. He could chat up anyone. He loved comedy, music, and beautiful sunsets. Above all else, Dan deeply loved his wife, was proud of his daughters, and adored his grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Celia, and pets, Hattie and Libby. He is also survived by his brother and sister, John and Mariah; daughters, Danielle and Michelle; sons-in-law, Josh and Stuart; grandchildren, Grant, Laurel, Rhian, and Ellee; nephew, Johnny; and aunts Ruth and Nancy.
Dan will rest in eternity at Santa Barbara Cemetery.
I'll hold you in my heart until I see you in heaven.
Rest in peace, Dan (Dad). We miss you and love you so much.
