Wallace Sugden Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 12, 2025.
A man loved
Wallace (Wally) Lynn Sugden, a man loved by his family, friends and neighbors was a man who loved.
He loved
A good pun, serving them up regularly to laughs and (sometimes) groans
A thrift store find, turning the rough into many a diamond
A good bargain or coupon
A good nap, or "resting his eyes"
A walk on the beach, lighthouses, seagulls, and the sound of the waves
A good filet mignon, blue cheese on his salad, lobster, fried whole belly clams, clams casino, homemade applesauce
His girls; Heather, Karly & Tory
His daily conversations with his twin sister, Connie
With his whole heart, a thoughtful man, the most kind and generous dad EVER who lived a full life
After 79 glorious years, Wally passed peacefully at his home in Bethel, CT on Sunday, November 9, 2025, with a smile left on his sweet face. As much as our hearts ache, we know he was blessed as so few are given the gift to complete their circle of life so gracefully.
Wally spent his early years in the Army and then worked at a gas station while going to Sacred Heart University where he obtained a Bachelors in Sociology. He then served as a Bethel Police Officer for 2 years. Many will remember him as the owner of The Walnut Hill General Store where his customers were always greeted by his smiling face. In 1989, he started working for the State of Connecticut at Fairfield Hills and continued with the State where he retired as a Case Manager with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services in 2014.
Keeping him alive in their hearts will be his daughters Heather Lyn Hemingway (Brad), Karlene Ayn Baila (Carlos), and Victoria Lyn Ayn Sugden (Matthew Venditto); his grandchildren Paxton and Thomas Hemingway; his twin sister Constance Subject; and his niece and nephews.
In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks you to get together with your friends and family and share stories and remember how Wally was kind and generous to you, Live for Today, make the best of every day, and love like Wally did with your whole heart!
