Obituary of Daniel Z. Tabor

Daniel Z. Tabor, 84, passed away peacefully at home in Malaga, NJ on January 17, 2026. Born in Passaic County, NJ in 1941 and moved with his family to Vineland in 1944. Dan graduated from Vineland High School in 1959.

Dan joined the New Jersey National Guard 50th Armor Division in 1966 and retired after 20 years of service then immediately enlisted in the United States Active Army and retired in 1995 as an E9 Sargeant Major. After retirement he was one of the founding members of the 3d Battalion 102d Armor Retirees Association and was Vice President until this year. He also worked Part-time with his parents Margaret and Zigmund Tabor at Tabor Gardens.

Survived by his loving wife of 44 years Sharon (nee Mooney); his four children Joseph Melini, Noeleen Mitchell (Dave), Danielle Groff (the late Eric), and Daniel Tabor (Ruth). Dan is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother-in-law Louis Giercyk (late sister Barbara) and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret & Zigmund Tabor and Sister Barbara Giercyk.

He enjoyed working with wood, driving his tractor, and socializing with friends. He made beautiful things out of wood, everything from cutting boards to rocking chairs. You could describe anything to him and he could build it.

A funeral home visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 10am to 12pm followed by a funeral service at 12pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Millville.
