GREENFIELD – Evangelist Daniel Ellis Toney, 80 of Greenfield, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was born the son of William Lester Toney and Mabel Louise (Haase) Toney on March 1, 1944, in Indianapolis. Dan was blessed to have shared 51 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Donna (Coomes) Toney.
Together, they raised a family, which include their children: Trinna Toney of Denver; Daniel (Donna) Toney Jr. of Greenfield; Kimberly Adams of Boulder; Dawn Darrough of Greenfield; David Toney of Indianapolis; and Joseph (Kylene) Toney of Noblesville; 15-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; also surviving is his stepsister, Linda Price. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ronald; Frank; Sandra; Norma Jean; and Dixie; and a grandson, Isaiah Devries.
Dan's desire for knowledge and his commitment to his calling led him back to Patriot Christian Academy to earn his high school diploma, a milestone that marked the beginning of a lifelong pursuit of wisdom and spiritual growth. He furthered his education at Indiana Baptist Bible College, where he deepened his understanding of the scriptures and the calling upon his life. Dan's faith was his compass, guiding him to utilize his spiritual gift as an evangelist. Dan's dedication to his ministry allowed him to travel over a million miles, preaching the good news of Christ with an unwavering spirit and an open heart.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Bethel Baptist Church, 1610 S. State St. Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 1:00pm with Dan's son, Daniel Toney Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield, 621 S. State St. Greenfield, IN 46140.
Charitable Donations in memory of Dan may be sent via mail to Bethel Baptist Church, 1610 S. State St. Greenfield, IN 46140. Envelopes will be available at the church during services.

This is for my husband. Dan was his grandpa more of a dad figure to him actually. My husband loves Dan so much and he is so heart broken that his grandpa got called home what seemed to be to soon. Brother Dan you are ever so greatly missed. I didn't get a very good chance of getting to know you but I can see all the love and sorrow in my husband's eyes. We love you and miss you grandpa. And the Lord has a better plan for you.

Even though Dan had a lot to do, he found time to call us frequently just to see how we were doing. In fact, he called just a week or so ago. We love his singing and play his CD's often. We encountered him often when he preached and sang at Kindred Nursing Home. We also met up with him a lot at various fast-food joints! We soon realized that he was there to witness, not just to eat. His was such an easy-going, friendly manner that it was easy for people to listen and often respond to his story of Jesus. There are lots of people in heaven who would not be there were it not for Dan.

My first memory of Bro Dan Toney was him singing with the Kings Travelers at Faith Baptist church in Fairland ,Indiana my dad would take me to church there when I was a young girl and when I heard Bro Dan Toney sing his beautiful voice touched my heart as he sang about our Lord and Savior.
