TOTTINGHAM, Daniel L. - of Montrose, age 74, died Saturday, July 20, 2024, at home. Honoring his wishes, cremation will be taking place. A Celebration of Dan's Life will be held at a later date in November at Mt. Sinai Lutheran Church. Date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Mt. Sinai Lutheran Church.
Daniel was born August 10, 1949, in Grand Blanc, Michigan, to the late Stanley and Ellen (Green) Tottingham. He was a dedicated and hard-working man his entire life. Dan was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School, Class of 1969, where he demonstrated his work ethic by juggling two jobs simultaneously, one at the Citgo Gas Station and the other on the third shift at General Motors. He married Ruthann on August 7, 1993, at Mt. Sinai Lutheran Church in Montrose and they enjoyed 30 years together. Dan was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from General Motors in 1998 with 30 years of service. He was a true outdoorsman, finding solace in hunting, fishing, camping, and snowmobiling. Dan loved traveling and went on many fun travel excursions with his wife, Ruthann. Known for his quick wit and vast sense of humor, Dan could effortlessly lighten the mood and bring laughter to any gathering. His playful teasing and good-natured banter created countless moments of joy and camaraderie among his loved ones, who lovingly refer to him as their "favorite curmudgeon".
Surviving are: Wife, Ruthann Tottingham; Daughters: Teresa (Dan) Simek, and Amy Tottingham; Stepdaughters: Jodi (Dan) Davenport, and Jaymi Vanholder; Grandchildren: Mersadeez, Labon, Lucas, Joshua, Trenton, Angelina, Jake, and Jenna; Great grandchildren: Belamy, Daniel, and one baby girl on the way, Talia; Daughter in law, Heather.
