With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and husband, Daniel Favela Urias, on March 21, 2025, at the age of 82. He passed away at home in Phoenix, Arizona, surrounded by family.
Born on January 21, 1943, in Phoenix, Daniel was the son of Arturo and Herminia Urias. From an early age, he was known for his deep love of family, food, and music—passions that would remain constant throughout his life.
After graduating from barber school, Daniel dedicated over 60 years to his craft, building a successful career as a barber, hairstylist, and proud salon owner in downtown Phoenix. His barbershop, Mt. Vernon Hair Design, became a welcoming hub for friends, clients, and legendary holiday gatherings.
Daniel will be remembered for his quiet strength, quick wit, playful humor, and boundless generosity. He found joy in traveling, golfing, shooting pool, singing, and playing guitar. He loved nothing more than being surrounded by loved ones, whether hosting parties or simply enjoying their company. His family was always at the heart of everything he did.
Daniel is survived by his devoted wife, Margie E. Urias, and his daughters: Wendy Urias, Tami Reyes (Tony), Tara Easter (Erin), and Danielle Urias. He leaves behind eight adoring grandchildren: Stefan, Chaz, Peter, Mikelyn, Anthony, Jane, Hannah, and Emi, along with six great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Hospice of the Valley for their support during Daniel’s final days.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85018. Daniel will be laid to rest at St. Francis Cemetery, with a celebration of life to follow.
Daniel will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his zest for life, infectious humor, and the unwavering love he shared with all who knew him.
