Daniel Pete "Dan" Vergot Jr.

Daniel Pete Vergot Jr., "Dan", 77, of Stevensville, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, at 12:00 noon, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with lifetime friend, Roy Rodriguez, officiating and American Legion Post 568 Stevensville, performing military funeral honors. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 10:00 AM. Memorial donations in Daniel's name may be made to Abby Sedlock, to assist with funeral expenses. Daniel was born April 22, 1948, in St. Joseph, to Daniel Pete Vergot Sr. and Lilly (Geisler) Vergot. He graduated from Lakeshore High School and entered the Navy. He was married to Marilyn (Jannert) Vergot, and together they raised their pride and joy, daughter, Abby. Dan was a truck driver and retired from R.W. Burns.

Dan was a member of the American Legion Post 344, Galien and 246th Amor Association. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He could always be found out "tinkering" with vehicles and farm equipment. He was almost always with his brother, David, whether they were hauling something, watching old shows, or traveling to tractor pulls. He cherished time spent with family, and was most proud to be Lizzie's Papa.

Dan was a friend to many, and he will be deeply missed by all that had the chance to know him.

Survived by and preceded by his daughter - Abby (Ryan) Sedlock; grand-daughter - Lizzie Sedlock; siblings - Carol Akins, David Vergot, Geri (Leroy) Shirey and Dorothy Hasse; numerous nieces and nephews and great - nieces and great - nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers - George Mielke and Larry Mielke and, former wife - Marilyn Vergot.
