Daniel (Dan) Q. Wilson III, 86, of Altha, Florida, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away on September 12, 2025.

Dan was born on September 7, 1939. Throughout his career, he and his family traveled widely before eventually settling in Altha, his wife's hometown, after retirement.

Dan was a proud United States Army Veteran. He served several tours including two tours during the Vietnam War and two tours in Korea. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer IV after many years of dedicated service. Dan was deeply proud of his country and considered it an honor to serve. He found his greatest joy in being with his children and grandchildren, creating memories they will forever cherish.

He was preceded in death by his father Lieutenant Colonel, Daniel Q Wilson II, US Army, and his sister Joan Bauscher

Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife, Gloria A. Wilson; daughters Deborah Griswold (David), Laura Mitchell (Tony), and Lisa Wilson; son Allen Wilson (Christy); sister, Belva Richards (Larry); along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to carry his legacy of love and strength. Dan was a quiet soul who loved to fish, shop and loved to go out to eat whenever he could.

Dan's legacy will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know him. The family wants to give a special thanks to Christy Wilson (daughter-in-law) whose unwavering care, compassion, and support brought comfort and dignity during his final years. Christy was not only a cherished family member but also a dedicated, caregiver whose kindness will never be forgotten.

The family is planning a private ceremony. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Altha.

Dan's passing is a heartbreaking reminder of the challenges many veterans face after service. His family wishes to honor his memory by encouraging others to reach out, listen and support those struggling with invisible wounds.
