Charles Wilson Obituary
Born May 22, 1947 in Waynesboro, VA to the late Bergen and Helen Wilson, he lived in Dawson County for the past 22 years having moved from Helen, GA. Mr. Wilson was a graduate of Clemson University after which he received a Masters Degree from the University of Virginia and a Masters Degree from Southwestern Theological Seminary. He taught at the University of Texas at Arlington. Charlie retired as Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Camden, SC and had previously served as Pastor at Malvern Baptist Church in Camden and the First Baptist Church of China Spring, TX. He served as assistant Director of Victory Home in Tallulah Falls. He was a U. S. Army veteran where he reached the rank of Captain and was stationed at the Pentagon as a liaison for a U. S. Senator. He enjoyed reading the Bible, ministering to others, and teaching his grandchildren firearm safety. Also preceding him in death are his sister, Amilia Bowden; and brothers, Jerry Wade Wilson and Frank Wilson.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca Millwood Wilson, Dawsonville; daughter, Amanda Wilson, Gainesville; sons and daughter in law, Roger Mayo Jones, III (Melody), Snellville, GA, Charles Bergen Wilson, Jr., Dawsonville; grandchildren, Roger Mayo Jones, IV, Matthew Alan Wilson, Jackson Bergen Wilson, Abigail Rebecca Wilson, Declan Charles De Los Reyes; brother and sister in law, Dean Wilson (Amy), North Carolina; sister in law, Pam Wilson, Richmond, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 4 o'clock at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:30 until 3:30 at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Buisson Barn, 6354 J F Jay Road, Gainesville, GA 30506.

Becky and family, we are so sorry to hear of Charlies passing, what great memories we have of our FBC China Springs family and Charlies time as pastor there, we loved him deeply and have often thought about both of you over the years, he had a profound impact on our lives. I thoroughly enjoyed the many ours of playing basketball, running laps at the school and long conversations while driving to and from snow skiing, he touched a lot of lives here and will be missed by many, we rejoice, however, knowing that he is with our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
