Daniel E. Worden (83) passed away on February 13, 2024 in West Chester, PA. He fought a long, courageous battle against cancer. Dan is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lisa Worden, along with their children and grandchildren.
Dan was born in Evanston, IL to Howard and Dorothy. He received his BBA degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1962, and his MS with honors from Southern Illinois University in 1963. Between 1963-65 he served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant in the Supply Corps, on the U.S.S.Tortuga, which landed the first Marines in Vietnam. Dan received two letters of commendation for his service.
Dan had a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry, and distinguished himself as an expert in Regulatory Affairs and Compliance. During his 40+ year career, he was employed by Mead Johnson and Company and Bristol Myers Squibb from where he retired as Executive Director, Worldwide Regulatory Compliance in 1993. He then joined PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS (PWC) as a consultant to various pharmaceutical clients, and after retiring from PWC, continued as an independent consultant.
Civic responsibilities were important to Dan. In the late 1970's, he served as a Police Commissioner and later as a County Councilman in Evansville, Indiana. For over 15 years, beginning in the late 1990's, he served in various positions in Bucks County, PA.
Dan and Lisa lived in Bucks County for approximately 24 years. During this time, Dan worked tirelessly with many individuals in local, state and federal government to secure the challenging and very difficult real estate transaction of opening the Washington Crossing VA National Cemetery in Newtown, PA. In 2008, the cemetery became a reality with the official opening in 2009. Dan continued as a retired member of the Cemetery Board until his death.
Dan and Lisa owned and operated several successful antique stores in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and Dan was a certified antique and silver appraiser and was renowned for his extensive knowledge of silver in the silver and antique community. In 2021, he completed his book on the history of coin silver which the family plans to publish.
Dan's knowledge, humor, and strong moral compass were admired by many and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to share their condolences with the family on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Lisa and the family.
Daniel was a big part of our lives at the People's Store Antiques for many years. His industry knowledge was impeccable, identifying the most obscure pieces and markings. As a licensed appraiser, he was extremely helpful. His good sense of humor and contagious smile will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew him.
May our Brother Daniel Rest In Peace. Love from your Friends & Family at the People's Store Antiques Center
