Daniel Yohman Obituary

Daniel Joseph Yohman SUMMERVILLE - Daniel Joseph Yohman, formerly of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on August 18, 2025 at his son's home in Summerville, SC. He was a man of quiet dedication to his family, country and God. Daniel was born October 22, 1924, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, firstborn son of Czechoslovakian immigrants, Joseph Yohman and Anna (Povetz) Yohman. He was the loving and devoted husband of Betty Jane (Bastress) Yohman. They met while in high school - Betty ice-skated circles around Daniel until she caught his eye. They soon became engaged, but Betty's mother would not approve of her marrying a man of draft age during World War II. Daniel was a dedicated family man, the loving and devoted father of Daniel Joseph Yohman, Jr. and his wife, Saundra, Summerville, SC; and his daughter, Darlynn Jean Rogers and her husband, Eric, Sharpsville. Daniel adored and cherished his three grandchildren and six great-children; his great-grandchildren referred to him as "Grandpa Great." At the age of 18, with World War II raging, Daniel enlisted in the U. S. Navy; he trained as a signalman and was assigned to the Armed Guard, serving on Merchant Marine ships in the Pacific. Returning from the war, he married his high school and wartime sweetheart, Betty. He worked as a draftsman at Westinghouse Electric Corp., Transformer Division, in Sharon until he was retired and moved to Florida. Mr. Yohman joins his wife, his parents, brother, Arthur Paul Yohman, and step-sister, Evelyn Susan Barger (John) in death. He is survived by his children; his grandchildren, Christopher Daniel Yohman, Timothy Jacob Yohman (Donna), and Ren Tighe (Jeremy); and great-grandchildren, Joseph Graham Yohman, Evan Cravens Yohman, Robert Finn Yohman, Theodore Ben-William Tighe, Betty Emmalyn Tighe, and Alice Grace Tighe; along with many nephews, nieces, and friends, all whom he enjoyed and cherished. Throughout the years, Daniel and Betty were very active in their church in the communities they lived. Being a quiet man, his actions and the way he treated others spoke more than words to his faith. We thank God for the many years Daniel was with us. "Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23 His funeral service will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 405 King St., Charleston, SC 29403, at 12:30 pm. The family will have a private interment at a later date. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com.
