Mary Jean Yohman, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025. Born December 22, 1934, in Warren, Ohio, Mary Jean was the daughter of John and Anna Hornak. She graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1953 and worked at Wean Engineering until her marriage. On May 25, 1957, she married the love of her life, John E. Yohman, at St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Warren. They shared fifty-seven years of marriage until his passing in 2014. Mary Jean devoted herself to raising their four children and later returned to work at the Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, where she served for eighteen years. She is survived by her children: Rick Yohman, Lori Meisburger (John), John M. Yohman (Roxanne Still), and Timothy Yohman (Hilary Wells). She was a proud and loving grandmother to twelve grandchildren: Katelyn, Jared, Lauren, and Emily Yohman; Carlye, Sara, and Haley Meisburger; Matthew, Jennifer, and Jeffrey Yohman; and Marlon and Elyse Yohman. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren. Mary Jean lived a life of service and joy. She was a CCD teacher for ten years at Holy Name Church, vice president of the Friends of the Library, a member of the Penn-Ohio Polka Boosters Club, secretary of the Cross Creek Board of Directors, and served as an election judge for the Board of Elections. She loved dancing, especially polka and square dancing, playing cards, bowling, crocheting, and helping her many friends. Most of all, she cherished attending her grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Ronald Joseph; sister, Ann Uhlar; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Yohman; brother-in-law, Richard (Dick) Yohman; sister-in-law, Judy Yohman; sister-in-law, Ruth Majovsky, and Whitey Majovsky. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 11:30AM at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown, Ohio 44515. A brief reception will take place at the church vestibule prior to the Mass, from 11:00 to 11:30AM. Mary Jean will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Resurrection Cemetery.
