Daniel Zaiger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michaud Funeral Home & Crematorium - Wilton on Feb. 10, 2026.
In Loving Memory of Daniel S. Zaiger age 71. Born January 7, 1955, passed away February 6, 2026.

Dan was a man of immense skill, quiet strength, and a lifelong connection to the land he called home. A pillar of the Wilton community, he spent his entire adult life on Abbott Hill, a place that defined his journey from his school days to his final years.

Dan's career was marked by a dedication to protection and precision. He served with honor as a Captain for the Wilton fire department for many years, leading with the kind of steadiness only a true craftsman possesses. His talents as a mechanic were legendary. Whether he was meticulously restoring a Porsche to mint condition or breathing life back into hardworking plow trucks, Dan had a rare gift for understanding how things worked. That brilliance extended to the digital world as well; as a gifted computer technician, he built a successful business from the ground up, assembling computers with the same care he gave his engines.

Dan's story was deeply intertwined with the landscape of Wilton. After spending his early childhood in boarding schools, he attended the High Mowing School on Abbott Hill. Following graduation, he spent many formative years living and working at the Bornstein Farm before finally realizing his dream of owning his own piece of the Hill.

Though Dan was the last of his line, he was far from alone. He is survived by a small, devoted circle of close friends who became his chosen family. He was a man who lived life on his own terms, defined by his work, his integrity, and the enduring friendships he forged.

Dan will be sorely missed by those who knew his heart and admired his abilities. He will be always loved and never forgotten.
