Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home - Wittenberg from Jul. 2 to Jul. 3, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel "Dan" Frank Zogata, who departed this earthly life at Wood Aven Health and Rehabilitation on July 1, 2025, at the age of 73.
Born on May 9, 1952, in Chicago, IL, to Adolph & Esther (Ryskiewicz) Zogata. At the age of two, Dan's family purchased and moved to a farm in the Town of Reid,
Hatley, WI to be near their original roots (Peplin). Dan and his siblings, Marcie, Mike, & Patsy, knew a life of farming in a community where they were surrounded by a loving extended family, and many, many friendships in the Bevent, Hatley, and Mosinee communities.
Dan loved life! He married Carol Jean Berger, and together they raised four children, Sherri, Ronda, John, and Adam, on the family farm where he grew up. While Dan and Carol parted ways after 34 years of marriage, his cup was overflowing with love and pride for God's nature and beauty in his farm, his four children, and his eleven grandchildren. Dan was a faithful servant of God throughout his life, and this alone carried him through heavy times.
Dan farmed for many years. He also worked as a welder, truck driver, bus driver, and finally as a custodial employee for Marathon County. Dan also operated a lawn care business.
He loved Jesus. Dan was a member of the St Ladislaus Men's Society and the Bevent Lions Club. He loved family & so many friends, polka music, John Deere tractors, Polish food, socializing or any sort of gathering, church picnics, sharing stories of his parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends from his younger years. So many stories about good times & causing a little trouble. The stories included friends and family from Central Wisconsin and the greater Chicago area.
Dan is survived by his children, Sherri (Dan) Kasat, Ronda (Gregg) James, John (Angela) Zogata, and Adam (Jamie) Zogata; grandchildren, Aliya, Harley, Nathanael, Declan, Kiyra, Benjamin, Micah, Fulton, Kinley, Kaylin, and Gracelyn; and other special family, Marcie Nemke, Karla Zogata, and Patsy (Rick) Reorowicz; nieces and nephews, Aaron Zogata, Clay Zogata, Derik (Trish) Nemke, and Lena (Matt) Repking; great nieces and nephews, Rhylee, Rayna, Reed, Layla, Anna, and Abby. He is preceded in death by Adolph and Esther Zogata, Micheal Zogata, and Butch (Dave) Nemke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday July 7, 2025, at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Bevent (173141 Hwy 153,
Hatley, WI). Family and friends are invited to join in prayer of the rosary at 8:30 am, and to visit and share memories of Dan from 8:45 am until the Mass.
