Obituary of Dannie Arthur Kirk
Dannie Arthur Kirk, age 86 of Kingsport, TN passed away at home on March 1, 2024, after a brief illness. Dannie was born on January 31, 1938, in Osaka, Virginia to the late Elmer and Thelma Kirk. Dannie graduated from Appalachia High School where he played football and was a Bulldog for life. Dannie married Evelyn Jean Powers on January 7, 1961. Dannie accepted a job with Pet Dairy in Kingsport; beginning a 50+ year career in installation and repair of commercial refrigeration equipment. He was known as an excellent troubleshooter and enjoyed solving problems that others couldn't. After owning his own business for several years, Dannie accepted a position with the Sullivan County Board of Education using his skills to keep equipment running smoothly in the schools until his retirement.
Dannie loved the outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Ed Rogers Hunt Club in Bath County, VA and hunted there most years from 1957 until 2022. More years than not a buck was put in the freezer including his last harvest in December 2023. Dannie was a member of Osaka Baptist Church; and a 50-year member of Kingsport Lodge No. 688 F. & A.M.
Dannie was preceded in death by his parents, William Elmer and Thelma Kirk; sisters, Wilma Seabolt and Linda Tennyson; brothers, George (GW) Kirk and Ronnie Kirk.
Surviving is his wife, Evelyn Kirk; daughter, Robyn Wilmoth (Jerry); son, Shane Kirk (Michelle); brother, Jimmie Kirk (Mattie), brother-in-law Chester Tennyson; grandsons, Brandon Arnold (Kalen) and Daniel Salyer; granddaughters, Lauren Zook (Dakota) and Kellie Aistrop (Hunter); seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City Virginia with John Toney officiating. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery at 11:50 am. Serving as pallbearers will be Dannie's family and friends.
