With great sorrow we announce the passing of Danny L. Abshier, husband of 38 years to Joyce Stinnett Abshier and father to Dane (Kevin) Galloway and Amanda (Bill) Rogers who reside in Owensboro. Danny was born in Owensboro on July 27, 1947 to Irl and Beatrice Jolly Abshier who continue to make their home here. He also leaves behind his four greatest joys his grandchildren Daniel Corey Abshier, Kurtis Jordan Galloway, Nathaniel Carson Rogers, and Emma Dawson Rogers. Also surviving are an uncle, numerous aunts and cousins, along with an extended family and many friends.
Danny has been with Modern Welding for 38 years, where he was affectionately known as their own computer geek. Danny graduated from Owensboro High School in 1968 and proudly served his country in the Signal Corps of the United States Army from 1965 through 1969. During his service, he was stationed in Germany and worked with the CID and spent the Israeli 6 Day War in that country. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, loved music of all types and enjoyed working with computers.
Services, conducted by Rev. David Hocker and Rev. Michael Blankenship, are at 12 noon Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
