Danny Akers Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 7, 2025.
Danny Joe Akers, 72, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on November 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Danny was born on July 7, 1953, in Springfield, Missouri, where he spent his entire life building deep roots and lasting friendships. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Akers; his mother, Audrey Akers (Hicks); and his sister, Teresa Akers.
He is survived by his devoted wife and the love of his life, Sherry Akers (Rothermel); his children, Bradley Akers (Nancy), Jason Akers (Vanessa), and Emily Akers; his grandchildren, Malaney Burk (Ramsey), Nicholas Akers, Wyatt Akers, Mya Akers, Kyleigh Corteselli, Sydney Nashid (Ilyas), Grayson McCorkendale, and Harper McCorkendale; and his great-grandchildren, Railey and Ridgeland Burk, Zelnith Corteselli, and Elinor Nashid. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Danny worked for 30 years at Litton Industries in maintenance before continuing his career at Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC), where he was known for his dedication and dependable work ethic.
A true outdoorsman and family man, Danny found joy in gardening, hunting, fishing, bowling, playing pool, cooking, and smoking meat. He loved nothing more than spending time with his large, close-knit family. Music was always part of his life, especially the blues, classic rock, and southern rock that often played as the soundtrack to his happiest days.
Danny was a social butterfly and a goofball with a heart of gold-kind, genuine, hardworking, forgiving, and generous. He had a way of brightening any room he entered and was a ray of sunshine on anyone's dark day.
A memorial celebration of Danny's life will be held on November 29th from 10am to 12pm at his home, where family and close friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor his memory.
He will be missed beyond measure.
"But God will redeem my life from the grave; he will surely take me to himself." – Psalm 49:15
