Ronald (Ron) Underhill, age 91, went to that big golf course in the sky on November 5, 2025, where every tee-off results in a hole-in-one.
Ron was born on July 9, 1934 to Carl and Goldie (Moore) Underhill, the oldest of eight children. He graduated from Willard High School in 1952. He married the love of his life, Mitzi Sue Thompson, on August 29, 1954. From this union, two sons were born.
Ron owned a service station in downtown Springfield in his early adulthood. He then worked for several years at REA Express. He finished his career as an over-the-road truck driver for Roadway Express (CB handle "Triple X"). He earned five "Million Mile Safe Driver" awards.
After retirement, he became an avid golfer. He had more golf clubs than a porcupine has quills. He was always on the lookout for the best putter or a powerful three wood.
Ron is survived by his two sons Steven Ray (Trenna) of Ozark and Tony Lynn (Nancy) of St. Louis; two sisters Gloria Bailey of Springfield and Barbara (Paul) Nicholson of Ash Grove; two brothers Bill of Ozark and Jerry of Alpharetta GA; a brother-in -law Tom (Peggy) Thompson of Iberia, MO; one grandson Jason of Alma, AR; one step-grandson Ben (Tonya) Ryan, of St. Charles, MO; four great grandsons and many nieces, nephews and friends. A special shout-out to his golfing buddies Jim DeLong and Dan White.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, his lovely wife Mitzi, brother Bill's wife, Judy, his brother Dolan and wife Pat, Clayton and wife Betty and his youngest brother Kenneth and sister Gloria's husband Glenn.
Visitation will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from noon to 2pm.
No service is planned.
Burial will be at a later date in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
