I finally met Danny in person in November, 1980. We both worked for Exxon, although I was in New Jersey. There were many parallels in our lives. Even our offices were adorned with nearly identical flying memorabilia. I traveled to Houston on business every couple of months, and naturally, we went flying in his airplane. There are too many stories here, but I´ll leave it at that. I was glad to be able to finally take him flying in my airplane. One thing we shared was a twisted sense of humor. I could pass along some of the voice mails he left, but I better not. I loved that unexpected package from Danny at work - 2 loaves of bread from The Cottonwood Inn in La Grange. My trips to Houston didn´t cost Exxon much money, since I stayed with Danny and family. He made sure I felt at home. We went to work together, and came home together. He´d complete his trip home as he "Yelled at the wife, beat the kids and kicked the dog, not necessarily in that order." All joking aside, Danny was a loving father. His love was unconditional. DJ, you know what unconditional love is, because your father was Mr. Danny Allen. He passed that unconditional love to you. You´re the one who accepted the challenge, knew what you had to do, and took care of your father, no matter what! I can´t even begin to put into words the gratitude I feel for how you and Susan took care of him, never losing your love and respect for him. God bless you both!

Danny was a great guy to work with at Exxon. He had some famous one liners. He was the pilot and we flew with him to Tennessee. The engine cut out on approach and we glided and barely made the runway. Full of life fun and stories! May he rest in peace.

I loved Danny the minute I met him. I would always look forward to go visit with him at the beginning of our relationship. I loved his smile and his sense of humor. He gave the best back massages. I will never forget that pig he cooked for us. It was the best I have ever had. He was funny and I will never forget his little sayings.. some day chicken some day feather. Over the lips past the gums look out tummy here it comes. Im going back to my boudoir. I miss Danny so much. I will cherish all of his memories I have of him. I am very thankful I got to call him my father n law.

Met him when Maria and I help DJ and Susan move into their new home. "Dad"was smitten by Maria and it was humorous to us all. Sad he is gone but also grateful for his peace at last.
