Danny Ray "Red" Church, 67 years of age, of Grundy, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Born March 17, 1958, in Grundy, he was the son of the late Gallie Church and Flora Ward Church.

Danny was of the Christian faith and a member of Harman Freewill Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver, coal miner, enjoyed riding ATV's and deer hunting. He was former employee of Williamson Oil and Appalachian Tire. Loving husband, brother and friend.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Jackie Church, Bobby Church and his sister, Ruth Ann Stacy.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years Barbara Jean Thacker Church of Grundy, VA; brothers David Church of Grundy, VA, Jim Church and wife Tippy of Grundy, VA; sister-in-law Carol Church of Abingdon, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Danny Ray "Red" Church will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Grundy, VA, with Pastor Danny Hess, Reverend Rodney Stiltner, Pastor Wilburn Dotson officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.

Pallbearers will be Brad Hurley, Matthew Church, Mike Church, Shannon Church, Gene Potter, Greg Hardin and Cody Church.

Honorary pallbearer will be Caleb Church.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday and Tuesday beginning at 6:00 p.m, with evening services at 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be live stream on the funeral home's Facebook page.
