It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Danny "Dan" Lowell Suddath, 87, of Burlington. Dan passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024, at AuthoraCare Collective Hospice. He was born in Roane County, Tennessee to Frank Anderson Suddath and Mary Sally May Garrett Suddath on July 5, 1937.
Dan led a fulfilling life, leaving an indelible mark on those around him. He worked for Carolina Biological Supply Company and post-retirement found continued joy as a host at Chick-Fil-A. To all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him, they were always greeted by his impeccable smile. The assisted living center in Yanceyville even nicknamed him “Mr. Smiley”. His sense of style earned him the reputation of a sharp dresser among his peers. He cherished moments spent at the beach and, above all, treasured time with his grandchildren. He had a great love for music. Besides playing piano, Dan was an accomplished song leader at church for almost 60 years. His passion for art, particularly creating watercolor paintings of flowers, adorned many prints that were sold to flag companies.
Among his proudest accomplishments was being named High School Valedictorian. Dan's dedication to education was further reflected in his Bachelor's Degree from Tennessee Tech University.
Dan will be deeply missed by his surviving family and friends, including his beloved wife of 65 years, Wilma Suddath, daughter Leigh Anne Wright (Gene), son Darryl Suddath (Julie), grandchildren Dr. Christopher Wright (Elsa), Caroline Brown (Matthew), Lauren Cary (Jackson), and Olivia Suddath, as well as great-grandchild Montana Grace Cary. His grandchildren called him “Pop Pop”. He was also “Pop Pop” to Matt & Josh Kearns of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Suddath.
A visitation to honor Dan's life will take place on July 19, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory in Burlington. The funeral service will follow on July 20, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to, Authoracare Hospice Home, Mebane Street Church of Christ, PO Box 380, Burlington, NC 27217, or Dan’s daughter’s home congregation that supports the homeless - Lindsley Ave Church of Christ, 3 Lindsley Ave., Nashville, TN 37210.
In remembrance of a life well-lived and a legacy that will endure through the memories he created with those he held dear, may Dan "Pop Pop" Suddath rest in eternal peace.
