Danny Ray Griggs, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 12, 2025, at his residence. Born on October 25, 1953, in Gaston County, North Carolina, Danny's life was characterized by his passion for adventure and connection with those around him.
A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Danny exemplified dedication and service, values that he carried throughout his life. He was an enthusiastic motorcycle rider and a cherished member of the NCL Goldwing Chapter, where he formed many lasting friendships through his shared love for the open road. He found joy not only in riding but also in working on cars and connecting with friends in conversation.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Audrey Farmer Griggs. Together, they built a happy family, which includes their two daughters, Tonia Broome (Michael) and Tracey Burrell (Robert). Danny took immense pride in his grandchildren, Grayson (Bailey), Logan (Savannah), Dalton, and a great-grandson, Mason. He will be fondly remembered by his brothers, James Griggs (Karla), Paul Ward (Barbara), and Terry Ward (Susan); his sisters, Dianna Lynn Griggs and Teresa Rakes; as well as sister-in-law, Mary Lou Griggs. Danny also leaves behind his cherished fur babies, Tucker and Mollie, and his beloved cat, Sophie.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Cooper Burrell; his mother, Hazel Jordan; father, Ralph Griggs; step-mother, Betty Griggs; brother, Edward Griggs; sister, Brenda Falls (Benny); and his niece, Robin Martin, and nephew, Michael Horton.
Danny Ray Griggs will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, boundless enthusiasm for life, and deep love for his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Services will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Judes.
