Danny Wayne Howell, Sr. of Natchitoches, LA, passed away on October 17, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on June 23, 1961, in Warrensville, NC, Danny was known throughout his life as a dedicated and hardworking individual whose commitment to his family and career was evident in all he did.
In the oil and gas industry, Danny worked tirelessly, climbing the ranks from tool pusher until he achieved the position of driller, a job he dearly loved. His work ethic not only provided for his family, but also set a profound example for those around him.
Outside of his devoted family life, Danny indulged in his passions during his free time. He found joy in fishing. Additionally, he was a man of considerable talent when it came to woodworking, expressing his ability not just to build, but to craft pieces that held memories and meaning.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Flora Pelican Howell, who stood by his side through life's many journeys; and his daughter, Alisha Howell. Danny cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, whom he raised like his own children. Elizabeth, Maekayla, Breanna, Cyrus, Billy, Maxel, Racheilla, and Isabella were the apples of his eye, and he loved them dearly. Also left to remember Danny are his sister, Catherine Miller, and his brother, Roy Howell, along with his wife, Kay; and a wide circle of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mollie Hamous Howell, and his son, Danny Howell, Jr., known affectionately as "DJ."
A service to honor his life will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Waters officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday the 21st. In honoring Danny's wishes to be cremated, his cremains will be spread at his home in the mountains of North Carolina at a later date.
