Danny Bruce Maness passed away peacefully on Sunday October 15, 2023 into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 14, 1950 to Paul and Pauline (Bennett) Maness in St Ann, Missouri.
He spent his childhood filled with fond memories of fishing, going to White Castle and singing in the school choir. He played football for four years wearing the number 72 at Pattonville High School, in Missouri. He was a 1968 graduate of Pattonville High School. After High School he went on to serve in the Army. Danny enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals on TV and was able to attend a game in 2022. Danny is well known as the official songwriter of the Greg and Dan radio show in Peoria, Il. He wrote and sang several songs over the course of his life, as well as writing two books. He was a member of Christ Bible Church. He found his passion in singing with the praise band and would often sing solos during the church service. His greatest joy was his family.
He met the love of his life, his angel Donna (Parker) Maness they were married July 23, 2008 she survives. He adored his dog Chevy. He is survived by three children Ryan Miars, Joshua Miars (fiancé Jessica), and Ashley (Matt) Heeren. He loved his grandchildren who called him Babaw: Aaliyah, Karliann, Brooklin (called him Bobby), Korinne, Breanna, Kara, Autumn, and Roman. He found pride in watching his grandchildren’s successes, he was often seen watching their plays, concerts, recitals or sporting activities. He had a special relationship with each of them. He is survived by siblings Richard Maness, and Paula Diane (Stan) Tolbert, and a host of nieces and nephews. Also surviving his mother-in-law Janice, sister in laws Debbie, Dianne, brother-in-law David and their significant others.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Paul David, Susan and Nancy, and father in law Oscar Parker.
We would like to thank Carle Health Hospice for the excellent care provided to Danny, specifically nurses Babs, Jamie, and Andy LCSW. A special thank you to Illinois Cancer Center for taking great care of him throughout his cancer journey. We are forever grateful to Dr. Luft in Pekin for being his physician for many years.
Services will take place at Christ Bible Church, in Creve Coeur on Saturday October 21, 2023 at 12:00pm. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Rev. Tom Pisano will officiate the service. Memorials will be made in care of his family for expenses.
