Danny J. Metzger, 65, of Kingston, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. He was born on December 26, 1957 in Kingston, NY and was the son of William Metzger and Bonnie O’Connor Metzger.
He owned and operated his own Chimney Sweep company based out of Kingston NY, All-Type Chimney. He took so much pride in his work and it showed.
Danny was an avid golfer and played at Green Acres Golf Course daily where his friends there gave him the nickname “Black Jack”. He also enjoyed other sports and staying physically fit . Danny liked to play basketball at Dietz Stadium, workout, run the stairs at the stadium and enjoyed a good game of frisbee. Danny also taught his daughter, Danielle, how to play softball at a young age.
Danny had a big heart and beautiful soul. He loved animals and rescued some of the stray neighborhood cats, and fed the squirrels in his backyard. Some even by hand.
He is survived by his daughter Danielle Marie Shumen, his mother Bonnie O’Connor Metzger, his sister Nikki Giannini (Joseph), brothers Mitchell Metzger, Willy Metzger, and Guy Greco (Alma), nieces and nephews Jamie Byrne (Jeremy), Victor Giannini, Candice Metzger, and Ron Jones, and by uncles Bill O’Connor (Anna Marie), and Phil Metzger (Shirley), and numerous cousins. Danny was preceded in death by William (Billy) Metzger.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm. For those who wish, contributions in Danny’s memory may be made to Ulster County SPCA.
