Danny Joe Neece, 69, passed away on July 12, 2025. Born on October 21, 1955 to Luther Delon and Catherine Claudine (Crume) Neece in Portales, New Mexico.
Danny was a skilled carpenter, and left many hammer marks and bent nails from Texas to California, and points in between and beyond. Danny loved to fish and explore, and had a keen eye for "pointed rocks". His favorite place in the world is Canon Largo near Trujillo, New Mexico, and he always dreamed of building a cabin overlooking the canyon. Danny was loyal, almost to a fault, and would give the shirt off of his back if someone needed it.
Danny was human and had his faults, just like the rest of us, but his love for people who mattered to him covered up any fault he may have had. He loved deeply. The words of Zach Bryan sum Danny up pretty good, "I am unhinged, unworthy, and distasteful to mostly everyone I meet, however, I am loyal to a fault to anyone I find kindness in. I do not and will not fear tomorrow, because I feel as though today has been enough. And I got no hate in my heart for anything, anywhere, or anyone ".
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dee, and nephew Delon. He is survived by his sons Jimmy (Courtney) Neece of Logan, NM and Trevor (Jacy) Banister of Smyer, TX. His brothers Billy and Jimmy. Grandchildren Tyler (Khaeden) Mehl, Hayden (Delani) Inge, Ethan Inge, Ryver Neece, Aleesha Neece, Rozin Banister and Suede Banister. And numerous nephews with a few nieces scattered in the as well.
A celebration of Danny's life will take place on August 23, 2025 at "Greenpa's" place 408 West Commercial Street in Portales at 10:00 am.
