Danny Dee Nugent

FORT WORTH - Danny Dee Nugent, 76, beloved father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at Harris Hospital on April 30, 2024, surrounded by his children. He will be missed and remembered by a large, loving family and his extended "chosen" family, of whom there are many.
Memorial Service: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Live Oak Chapel at Greenwood, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, TX 76107.
Dan was born on April 18, 1948, in Olney, Texas. His family moved to Azle, Texas while he was still in elementary school. There he would spend his formative years and early adulthood, marrying and starting his new family.
Dan, as he was known for most of his 76 years, was a man of many talents and interests, including music, photography, motorcycles, and vintage automobiles. He played and collected stringed musical instruments but was most proficient and best known as an accomplished bass guitarist, active in the vibrant music scene in and around Fort Worth throughout the 1960s and 70s. He continued to jam with friends and former bandmates for the rest of his life.
Later in life, Dan took up photography and traveled all over Texas with family members and fellow enthusiasts in search of "the light" and the perfect shot. He was successful more often than not, and his work is treasured by close friends and family. If something could be improved or restored with a wrench and a bag of tools, Dan could do it.
He enjoyed working on just about anything with wheels and an engine, and he displayed a talent for it at a very early age. He was always generous with his expertise and his time when family and friends needed his help.
Dan enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at Texas Christian University as a Supervisory Electrician, retiring in 2018 after 37 years of service to devote his time to family and his many interests and hobbies.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, D.S. Nugent; his mother, Adelle Nugent; and a sister, Mary Ann Evans.
Dan is survived by his loving children, John Christopher Nugent and wife, Lindsay, Shelby Roxanne Nugent, and Brandy Ryane Nugent Topley and husband, Ryan; his sisters, Rita Benner, Patsy Wages, and Margo Palomo; his grandchildren, Madison, Noah, Olive, Paxton and Greyland; as well as two great-granddaughters, Lucille and Penelope.
Godspeed and safe home, Danny boy. You will be missed.
