Danny D. Popp, 69, died on Wednesday, December 28, after a short stay at The James Cancer Hospital. Danny was a 1971 graduate of Shadyside High School, studied drafting and design at the Industrial Technical Institute in Pittsburgh, studied architecture at Ohio University Eastern in St. Clairsville, and graduated with a BS from The Ohio State University School of Architecture in 1980. Danny started his professional career with an internship with GJK and Associates (1979-85). After receiving his Architectural Registration, Danny established DDP and Associates, Architects/Planners, a full-service architectural firm, which included builders/construction managers and in-house engineering services. Over the years, Danny and his team at DDP and Associates were responsible for a plethora of projects, too many to name herein. In addition to his role at DDP and Associates, Danny also held handfuls of registrations and certifications from many states, was a certified HUD inspector, and was an adjunct professor at Columbus State Community College (97-present).
When not working, Danny enjoyed all types of music, attending concerts, and spending time with his family. Danny was a family man, first and foremost, and dedicated everything to the love of his life, his wife Sylvia (Sibby) and their son Tyler.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, George and Janie Popp, sister Peggy Marsh, and son Trevor. Danny is survived by his sister Sally Bobek (Ron), and numerous nephews and nieces. Family will receive friends at the Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, 4341 North High Street in Columbus on Saturday, January 7, from 11:00am-1:00pm, with the service from 1:00-2:00. In-lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to Habitat for Humanity.
