Danny Stanton, Age 71 of Watertown passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 at a care center in Madison, MN.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm Friday, December 29, 2023 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Pallbearers will be Todd Swenson, Jamie Durham, David McGuire, Fred Stanton, Steve Stanton and Jeff Stanton.
Danny Raye Stanton was born July 5, 1952 in Watertown, South Dakota to Lyle H. and Gladys C. (Holscher) Stanton. He grew up in Watertown and attended Watertown schools.
He married Salley Robson on December 31, 1976 in Watertown.
Danny was employed at Larabee's Furniture and then Trailers, Inc. He then worked as a US mail postal carrier with the route from Watertown to Huron then later the route from Huron to Sisseton, in which he drove a semi truck. Following retirement he was employed by Auto Value delivering parts to repair shops in the area.
He loved his family, especially his grandkids. He had a nickname for many people. Danny enjoyed working on cars, riding his lawn mower and moving snow.
Danny is survived by his wife, Salley; his children, Daniel (Leanna) Stanton, Jon Stanton, Heidi (Edward) Starzl all of Watertown, SD; his sisters, Anita (Roger) Swenson, Marilyn Durham and Sandra Carr; one brother, Roger (Sue) Stanton, one sister-in-law, Mary Jo Stanton, all of Watertown SD; his eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lyle "Bub" Stanton and Allen "Fred" Stanton; and his nephews, Scott McGuire and Jeff McGuire.
