Danny was born in East Rochester, NY to Guiseppe and Vincenza Sciarratta on August 22, 1926. He grew up in South Philadelphia and entered the Navy after high school. He proudly served his country on the USS Midway. He participated in the saving of American soldiers in the Leopoldville Disaster on Christmas Eve in 1944. He never forgot the faces of those he saved and tried to save and wept for them often. He met the love of his life, Connie Loiero in high school and they married in November,1946. He worked at Rochester Gas & Electric for 35 years. His greatest love was his family. He loved fishing while they lived in Port Charlotte, FL along with dancing at the Italian American Club where he and Connie were members. His hobbies were home renovations, crossword puzzles and maintaining an impeccable garden. He loved God and was deeply yet quietly devoted to his faith.
Danny is survived by his daughter, Joanne [Christopher] Sciarratta Bouvier of Philadelphia, PA. brother, Raymond [Roseann], sister, Connie [Anthony] Attardi, brother-in-law, Louis Loiero of Philadelphia., bonus grandchildren, Adam [Jessica], Troy [Bill], Grant and bonus great-grandchildren David, Juliet and Catherine. Special nephews Nick, Gary [Lori], Rob and several other nieces and nephews.
In his memory contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.
Our family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Mill Landing Assisted Living and Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center staffs for their loving and excellent care.
