Danton Tuve Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Molloy Funeral Home - West Hartford on Nov. 24, 2024.
Danton Tuve, of West Hartford, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 80.
Dan was born in Volga, South Dakota to Bennie and Myrtle Tuve on July 22, 1944. He grew up in Orland, CA and attended California Lutheran University, where he graduated in 1966. Dan served in the United States Army as a cryptanalyst from 1967 to 1971, where he was stationed in Vietnam and South Korea. After leaving the Army, Dan worked in the insurance industry for 40+ years, retiring from Travelers in 2012.
Dan was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church for nearly 40 years. He sang in the choir, served on the Church Council and various committees, and participated in the wider ministry of the church. He was also active in the community at large, including feeding the underprivileged in the Greater Hartford community through the Travelers Chorale and visiting the elderly and those suffering illness.
For those who knew Dan, you can't help but remember his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. Dan enjoyed a good round of golf with friends and spending time with his grandchildren. Dan loved life, his family, and his community.
Dan is survived by his best friend, partner, and wife of 54 years, Jean, as well as their daughter Tammi and her husband Tim, grandchildren Braden, Kari Rose, and Francesca, and siblings Doug (and his wife Susan), Jackie (and nephew Michael), and Joy (and her husband Jim).
Dan will be laid to rest at a private burial at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, and a Memorial Service will be held to honor his life at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Avon on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to St. Matthew Lutheran Church at 224 Lovely Street, Avon, CT 06001.

I met Dan at Security/Orion Insurance Company in the early 1980s. Over the next 40+ years we stayed in touch and I prepared his tax returns through 2022. Dan was great friend! RIP my friend!

Well I can't remember the first time I met Dan it just seems like we just knew each other and trading jokes and puns. I remember going to visit his Alma Mater on a trip to CA and that the Dallas Cowboys used to do their preseason training there, Then there was a time when we were at a restaurant and Dan put in for a table. We couldn't understand why people came after us and were seated before us. Then we realized that they continued to call for Dan Tube. We must have laughed about an hour after that and when we reminisced later. He was the utmost of gentleman. quick witted, kind and compassionate . Not an ugly bone in his body. We tended to disagree about politics but it was never to the point that when he would visit the Travelers, hawking the Christmas Concert tickets and stop to trade memories and puns. He was a great man and a friend to everyone. He will be sorely missed in world where there are fewer and fewer Dan's.
I know God will welcome him with open arms but not so much the puns!
